GREENVILLE HURRICANES YOUTH FOOTBALL PROGRAM 2024/25
(through Greenville County Recreation Youth Football)

Greenville Hurricanes is looking forward to offering 12U Football again this season AND we are excited to announce that we will be fielding a 10U team as well this year! All season info is below!

Benefits of Youth Tackle Football:

• Players can be coached more intentionally and at a pace suited to their development
• Players get game time against players in their same age range
• Players enter the JV Football program with more preparation and experience

Season Info:

• Who is eligible:  Players that are 9 or 10 years old (for 10U), or 11 or 12 years old (for 12U) on 8/31/24 and do not have a tackle football program offered at their school
• Number of games:
  • 6-8 regular season games between the teams in the GCRD program
  • Playoff games at the end of the season
• Size of team:  Minimum 18, maximum 30
• Practice Location:  El Bethel Baptist Church Fields (313 Jones Avenue, Greer, SC)
• Practice Days:  M/T/TH, 6-7:30pm

Head Coach:

• Joey Pipa - Coach Pipa will work along with Hurricanes Head Coach, Blake Dixon, to provide consistency in coaching/training between the youth teams and the JV/Varsity teams.

Player Expectations:

• Be committed to showing up and working hard at practices and games.
• Be respectful of coaches and teammates.
• Abide by the player code of conduct.
• Let Mrs. Pipa (or a coach) know if you will have an upcoming absence

Parent Expectations:

• Be committed to getting your athlete to practices and games.
• Allow the coaches to be THE coach.
• Be respectful of coaches and  encouraging to players.
• Turn all paperwork in on time. (Sports physical from 2024, birth certificate, code of conduct, and waiver). Specific date info to come.
• Be willing to help with supplying ice water, using our water cooler, for practices and games. (This is the ONLY required volunteer commitment.)

Registration:

• $190 registration fee
• $75 uniform fee (uniforms will be kept by players at the end of the season)
• We are working on some corporate sponsors!
• Payment Plan (available if desired)
  • At registration - pay $100
  • Remaining amount paid in 2 payments over the next 2 months

Player Provides:

• Football cleats (red, black, white or gray)
• Practice pants and jersey (black) - can be purchased at Academy Sports
• Shoulder pads
• Black helmet
• Mouthguard (red or white)

Important Dates:

• Date TBD - Uniform Sizing
• May 20, 6pm - Mandatory Parent/Player Meeting (El Bethel Baptist Church)
• June 3-June 27-Pre-season Conditioning / Skills Work
  • Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:00-7:30pm @ El Bethel Baptist Fields
  • Not mandatory but strongly encouraged.
  • Included in cost of season registration.
• July 8 - Practices Begin!  - Heat Acclimation MANDATORY (minimum of 10 hours before full pads are allowed.)
• August 6 - MANDATORY Weigh-In for Greenville Rec
• August 24 - Games Begin

FLAG FOOTBALL 2024

Hurricanes Football is looking forward to offering a FLAG FOOTBALL program this spring! The program will run through Greenville Rec. All the season information is below. It's time to get registered and get ready for our first practice on January 30th! Registration closes at midnight on January 27!

WHAT:  Inaugural Greenville Hurricanes Flag Football Season

IMPORTANT DATES:

• Practice Begins - January 30th
• Games Begin - Beginning of March
• Games End - End of April / Beginning of May

# OF GAMES: 6 Games + Playoffs for Top Teams

TEAMS OFFERED:

• 10U (10 and under on 8/31/24)
• 12U (12 and under on 8/31/24)
• 14U (14 and under on 8/31/24

PRACTICE INFORMATION

Until Games Begin

• Thursdays & Fridays, 6-7:30 @ East Riverside Park
• Saturdays, Time TBD @ El Bethel Baptist Church

Once Games Begin (3/12 through end of season)

• Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-7:30 @ El Bethel Baptist Church
• No Saturdays

GAME DAYS: All games are on Saturdays

GAME LOCATIONS: Various Greenville Rec parks (full schedule will be on TeamSnap once the schedule is available)

The Greenville Hurricanes is a volunteer-based program. Each family is responsible to sign up for a role to support the program.

Examples of Roles include:

Concessions (if applicable)
Admissions
Home Game Setup and Clean Up
Game Scorebook
Scoreboard
Team Mom

Further information regarding volunteering will be given at the Parent/Player Meeting when the season begins.
