Registration Fees:
Parents: Our goal is to develop a program that provides a fun, competitive environment while giving the players the opportunity for development.
As we did last year, we are breaking up the fees into two parts:
1) the amount due for registration, and
2) the amount each athlete will need to generate in donations/fundraisers. This year, we are allowing the fundraising amount to either be paid up front or broken up into $50 payments due Nov 1, Dec 1, and Jan 1. You will have the option to set this up automatically at registration and drafted each of those months.
Girls basketball registration fee covers the following costs
- Administrative expenses to support the team (insurance, personnel, etc)
- Operations - facilities expenses, officials, equipment
- Participation in the 2023/24 season
- Uniforms will be loaned - no extra cost to the player. Uniforms are the property of the Greenville Hurricanes and will be returned at the end of the season. If a player loses or damages a uniform, the player will be charged the full cost of replacing the damaged or lost jersey. (Current replacement cost for full uniform set MSG=$80 / JV=$190 & VG=$190)
If you wish to purchase your uniform, please indicate in the registration process what part of the uniform you wish to purchase. - Participation in the 2024 Skills Clinic (about 8-10 sessions) Value = $125
- Free access to the home games for immediate family: mom, dad, and siblings.
VG - $325 Registration + $150 fundraising
- Registration fee due at the time of registration (online) = $325
- Fundraising/Donations due on Nov 1 = $150 (in full or per payment schedule)
JVG - $300 Registration + $150 fundraising
- Registration fee due at the time of registration (online) = $300
- Fundraising/Donations due on Nov 1 = $150 (in full or per payment schedule)
MSG - $275 Registration + $150 fundraising
- Registration fee due at time of registration (online) = $275
- Fundraising/Donations due on Nov 1 = $150 (in full or per payment schedule)
Volunteer Requirements:
The entire girls basketball operation is run with volunteers. We will need volunteers to help with admission, concessions, scoreboard operations, scorebook, stat tracking, 2nd adult at a few practices, and occasional event support. We will have a minimum amount of spots to fill per athlete.
Fundraising:
This is a critical aspect of our program. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees.
Please mark the dates of October 14th and 21st for a fundraiser activity. More information to come. If you have any ideas for raising funds, please let us know.
Donations:
The Greenville Hurricanes is a 501(c)(3) and is a great way to support girls basketball in our community. If you, a friend or family member is interested in making a donation and receiving a tax deduction it is a great way to offset our program expenses and continue to enhance future basketball equipment and gym needs. Donations are still made to the Greenville Hurricanes, just let us know it is designated for Girls Basketball.

GREENVILLE HURRICANES GIRLS BASKETBALL
on the positive feedback. Please read through to the end for all the information and a link for registering. If we have a strong turnout, we will field two teams. We will not have tryouts, as this is a developmental team, and we want to encourage as many players as we can to learn and continue to grow in the game.
Age/Grade:
4th, 5th and 6th graders is defined as players that are at least 9 to 12 years of age on September 1, 2021. 6th Graders are welcome to tryout for the Middle School Girls team, but depending on the number of players we have make the Middle School team, we may have some of the 6th graders play on the LittleCanes team to continue to develop and prepare for the Middle School team.
Coaches for 2020/2021 Season:
We want our Varsity players to mentor young players and get experience by coaching the LittleCanes team under the supervision of an adult. We will need a parent to volunteer to serve in this supervisory coaching role. The adult coach will need to be comfortable with the game of basketball and run practice or coach the game in the event there is a conflict with our player coaches. Coach Randy Lindsey will assist in providing guidance.
Important Dates:
Oct 19 - Practice begins (parent mtg)
Oct 30 - Boo-sketball Camp 1-4p basketball camp
Feb 5 - Estimated date for the league tournament
Practice Schedule:
We will be practicing one night a week. Starting out, that will be on Tuesday night between our Middle School and JV/Varsity practice. If you have a player on either team, this makes it easier to coordinate one dropoff and pickup. Once games begin, it will impact the timing. We will publish the practice schedule in TeamSnap.
Game Schedule:
The games will be on Saturdays, usually starting in early December and going until the beginning of February. There will be 2-3 Saturdays around Christmas and New Years that will not have games.
Game Day Volunteers:
We plan for our gym to be a "host gym," which gives us the privilege of having our games in our own gym, but we will need to provide volunteer coverage. The Hurricanes Girls Basketball program is a 100% volunteer run program, so all families will need to pitch in for the game day volunteers roles (set up/clean up, admissions, concessions, scoreboard and scorebook)
Registration Fees:
Registration for LittleCanes Basketball is $100.
Here is what is included in addition to practices and games.
-
Player’s jersey top, worn with the player's black or dark shorts (Uniforms will be returned at the end of the season. If a uniform is lost or damaged there will be a $20 replacement fee to cover the cost of replacing)
