GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS & SEASON INFO 2026/27
We're excited for the 2026–27 Greenville Hurricanes Basketball season! Whether you're returning to the Hurricanes or interested in joining us for the first time, we can't wait to get the season started!

TRYOUT INFORMATION
Please Note: Any athlete interested in participating on a Hurricanes team MUST be present at tryouts unless there is an unavoidable conflict. Contact Scott Price with questions - girlsbball@
When: Tuesday, September 29, 2026
- 5:00-6:00pm - Girls 14U (6th-8th Grades)
- 6:00-7:30pm - Girls 16U & 18U (9th-12th Grades)
- MSG (14U) - Player is 14 years old or younger on June 1, 2026
- JVG (16U) - Player is 16 years old or younger on June 1, 2026
- VG (18U) - Player is 18 years old or younger on June 1, 2026
Where: First Baptist Greenville (847 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC)
Who: Any homeschooled student (or a traditionally-schooled student whose school does not offer Girls Basketball), 6th grade to 12th grade. It is the age eligibility policy of Greenville Hurricanes that athletes for the 2026/2027 school year do not turn 11 after 12/31/26 and do not turn 19 before 6/1/26.

Practices begin the week of October 6th. The practice schedule will vary based on game schedules and gym availability, but between practices and games, plan for 3-4 nights per week during the season. The schedule of practice dates and times will be posted in the TeamSnap app for easy tracking.Games:

- MS Breakaway Tournament - November 14 (MSG)
- MS County Tournament - November 20, 21 and 23 (MSG)
- High Point Tournament- November 23, 24 and 25 (VG)
- Landrum Tournament - December 12 (JVG)
- Palmetto State Tournament (Easley, SC) - February 18, 19 and 20 (MSG/JVG/VG)
- Gatlinburg Tournament (Gatlinburg, TN) - March 8-12 (MSG/JVG/VG)
NOTE: As a team, it is important that if you try out and make the team, you are able to attend all tournaments. Expense related to tournament lodging, meals and transportation is additional to registration and fundraising.
Registration Fees:
JVG/VG - $425 + $250 fundraising
- Season Registration Fee (online registration) - $425 (must be registered by 10/4)
- Fundraising / Sponsorship / Donations - $250 (due by October 30)
MSG - $375 + $250 fundraising
- Season Registration Fee (online registration) - $375 (must be registered by 10/4)
- Fundraising / Sponsorship / Donations - $250 (due by October 30)
Payment Plan - The season registration fee can be paid by installment. $150 is due at registration, and the remainder will be broken up into 3 monthly payments.
Uniforms:
As in previous years, uniforms will be loaned; there is no extra cost to the player (Value: $200). Uniforms are the property of the Greenville Hurricanes and will be returned at the end of the season. If a player loses or damages a uniform, the player will be charged the full cost of replacing the damaged or lost jersey.
Volunteer Requirements:
The entire Girls Basketball operation is completed with volunteers. We will need volunteers to help with admissions, concessions, scoreboard operations, scorebook, stat tracking and occasional event support. We will have a minimum amount of spots to fill per athlete on our volunteer schedule.
Fundraising:
This is a critical aspect of our program. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees. Our Basketball Shoot-a-Thon has been very successful in the past, and Boys and Girls Basketball plan to hold this event jointly this year on October 17. This is a fun and engaging way to raise funds! Each player will need to bring in the amount specified below in fundraising or to cover that amount as a family. Fundraising is due by October 30. Any amount that has not been brought in by that date will be invoiced. The invoice will be due December 5.

Required Paperwork:
All paperwork must be turned in by 10/6 in order to participate. We will also allow athletes scheduled for an October Greenville Hurricanes physical to begin practice on 10/6.
Physicals: A physical is required for all participating athletes 6th grade and above. The physical may not be more than 1 year old at any time during the season. Hurricane physicals will be offered October 1st!

Birth Certificate: Required only for athletes new to Greenville Hurricanes. Returning athletes will already have their birth certificate on file.
Sport Physical & Birth Certificate Submission: In order to streamline the process, please scan or take a photo of the Birth Certificate and/or the doctor's signature page of the Sport Physical (only need that 1 page).

Ball Handling / Shooting Clinic / Skills Training

- Dates: May 4, 5, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 28

GREENVILLE HURRICANES GIRLS BASKETBALL
LITTLECANES GIRLS BASKETBALL 2026/27
We're excited to offer LittleCanes Girls Basketball this fall! Our goal is to provide a competitive, encouraging environment where young athletes can develop their skills, build confidence, and grow their love for the game. LittleCanes is the perfect place for girls to learn the fundamentals while gaining valuable game experience. We plan to have one team of 10 players.
Registration is now open! Spots are limited, so be sure to register early!
SEASON INFO
Who: Homeschooled girls ages 8-11 as September 1, 2026
Practice: Practice will start October 12th. Our plan is to have practice one time per week on Mondays from 5:00-6:00 PM.
Practice Location: Grace Church Taylors (2701 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Taylors, SC)
Games: Games are held on the following Saturdays - 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30
Game Location: Taylors Rec Center (Back Side of the Building - 200 W Main St, Taylors, SC 29687)
Cost: $150 Registration (includes uniform)
Birth Certificate: A copy of the birth certificate will be due at the first practice.

GREENVILLE HURRICANES GIRLS BASKETBALL
GIRLS BASKETBALL TROPICAL STORM CAMP 2026
(3rd-6th Grade)
The Hurricane Girls Basketball Program is hosting a starter Basketball Camp with the goal to develop young girls in basketball fundamentals. Whether your child has played on a team before or not, this is a great opportunity to learn the fundamentals and prepare your player for advancing their game!
Who: Any girl entering 3rd-6th grade in the fall of 2026
When: July 20, 21, 23 & 24 from 5-6:30pm
Where: Hampton Heights Baptist Church (2511 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville)
Cost: $75 - campers will receive a camp t-shirt if they register by July 9!

About The Canes
Greenville Hurricanes is a 501(c)(3) organization created to provide athletic opportunities to elementary, middle school and high school students. This athletic program is open to the greater homeschooling community and private, Christian, Charter or alternative education groups that may not offer that particular sport in their own organization.
