SOFTBALL TRYOUTS & SEASON INFORMATION 2026/27
We’re excited to get another season of Hurricanes Softball underway starting with Tryouts! We look forward to welcoming back our returning players while adding new athletes who are ready to compete, work hard, and continue developing their skills! If you’re interested in being part of the program, we’d love to see you at tryouts!
TRYOUTS
When: Friday, 10/23 from 4-6PM OR Saturday, 10/24 from 10AM-1PM
Where: Piedmont Park (10 Marshall Street, Piedmont, SC 29673)
Who: Girls in 6th-12th grades who are either homeschooled or whose school does not offer Softball
Bring: Bat (if you have one), Helmet (if you have one), Cleats (if available), Glove (must have)

SEASON INFORMATION
Teams: Varsity & JV teams
Practices: 4x/week at Piedmont Park from February to mid-March (10 Marshall St, Piedmont, SC 29673). Practice 3-4x/week at Taylors First Baptist from Mid-March through end of season (200 W Main Street, Taylors, SC).
Training: Strength & Conditioning Training at 11.11 - November through January - Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm (301 Airport Rd. Greenville, SC)
Registration: Players must be registered by October 20th. Full practices will begin February 1st.

- Program Manager & Head Coach - John Hollifield
- Asst. Coaches - Kim McCabe, Tommy Tolan, AJ Canino, James Bayle
Costs:
- Registration Fee
- Jersey - $80 (All team members will need to order a new jersey this season)
Fundraising Fee - $150
This is a critical aspect of our program. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees. Each player will need to bring in the amount specified above in fundraising or will need to cover that amount as a family. Any amount that has not been brought in by the due date will be invoiced.
Payment Plan (available if desired):
- $150 paid at the time of registration
- Remaining amount split into 2 monthly payments
Player Provides:
- Softball Pants
- Helmet
- Glove
- Cleats
- Bat (specifics available at parent/player meeting)
Paperwork:
New players will need to submit a birth certificate. Returning players will already have a birth certificate on file. Athletes are also required to have a sports physical turned in before participating. See information on Hurricanes physicals below.
HURRICANE PHYSICALS
Physicals are required for each middle school and high school athlete participating in a Hurricane's competitive season. The physical must not be more than one year old at any time during the season.
Greenville Hurricane Athletics is offering physicals again for only $25!
