The Greenville Hurricane Football program is excited and eagerly anticipating the upcoming 2025 Season. This year we plan to capitalize on last year’s tremendous developments with both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. The Varsity team was re-building last season and this year’s outlook is filled with optimism, player development, advanced coaching, and even more victories in the win/loss column. The Junior Varsity team is coming off an SEIFL League Championship and looks to defend their title. Both teams and seasons are poised for excitement on the field and in the hearts of the young men.

The following information is designed for players and parents, providing necessary detail to register for this upcoming season. Please carefully read through each section and when you are prepared to register, scroll to the bottom and click on the REGISTRATION BUTTON.

• 3/28 - Online Registration Opens
• 4/7 - Parent/Player Meeting held at El Bethel Baptist Church, 7:30pm (313 Jones Avenue, Greer)
• 4/17 - Hurricane Physicals (more information can be found below)
•  4/29 - JV Uniform Fitting Day held at First Team Sports, 4-6pm (2520 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville)
• 4/30 - Varsity Uniform Fitting Day held at First Team Sports, 4-6pm
• 5/1 - Last Day of Preseason Conditioning
• 5/12-6/27 - Pre-Season Practice requiring helmets beginning Monday, May 12th, held at the Bonds Career Center Football Field (505 North Main Street, Greer, SC 29650)
• 7/8 - First Official Season Practice held at the Bonds Career Center Football Field

TEAMS OFFERED
The Hurricanes annually offer both Varsity and Junior Varsity competition teams.
Varsity – Athletes aged 15-18 on 8/1/25
Junior Varsity – Athletes aged 11-15 years old on 8/1/25
*Coaching staff will have the final determination of the team on which a 15 year-old will play.

ELIGIBILITY
All footballers interested in participating in the 2025 Season must be homeschooled or attend a school that does not offer the sport of Football.

PRE-SEASON JAMBOREE
This year’s Pre-Season Football Jamboree is an exciting annual kick-off event scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd. Time and location are still to be determined. This annual event is a fun-filled competitive gathering of all the footballers who play on teams in the Southeastern Independent Football League. Both Hurricane Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will participate in the entire event, including such contests as a flag football tourney and a series of weightlifting competitions, as well as experiencing the overall fellowship amongst players and coaches. Footballers are invited to bring friends who would enjoy participating in this day. More details will follow.

• May 12th – May 22nd Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 6:00pm-7:45pm.
• June 9th – June 27th Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 6:00-7:45pm.

SEASON PRACTICE
The football program will begin official practice on Tuesday, July 8 through the end of season on November 7th from 6:00-8:00pm held at the Bonds Career Center Football Field.

Football 2025 Schedule

REGISTRATION COSTS
The Football Registration Cost Structure has a small inventory of required items to be purchased, explained below:
1) The Football Registration Fee for all Varsity and Junior Varsity players is $300.

2) The Uniform Fee is as follows:

• Junior Varsity is $70 for 1 reversible uniform jersey (required for new and returning players).
• Varsity is $200 for 2 uniform jerseys (Required for all NEW Varsity Players / Returning Players may purchase if needed for size or condition).
• Pants will be provided and returned by the players at the end of the season for both JV and Varsity Players. A deposit of $50 for JV and $75 for Varsity will be held during the season and returned when clean pants are handed in at the end of the season.

3) The Player's Kit
First time Hurricane Footballers are required to pick up a Player’s Kit for $95, which includes a sleeveless dri-fit shirt, practice jersey, practice pants, girdle, practice belt, and game socks. These articles are vitally important to the new player, while returning players can place an order for any individual pieces needed. (All Player's Kit items will be ordered online through First Team Sports.)

FUNDRAISER
Hurricane Football annually offers a single pre-season fundraiser in an effort to subsidize costs, assisting families while supporting the program. Fundraiser Information will be provided on June 15th.

PAYMENT PLAN
In consideration of difficult economic times, Hurricane Football provides a single Payment Plan option beyond paid-in-full, detailed below:
1. A down payment of $100 upon Registration.
2. The remaining balance (Registration and Uniform Fee) will be drafted once a month on the 15th of each month for the following three consecutive months.

Paid-in-Full is always recommended, but in lieu of difficult times, if you choose the Payment Plan:
1) Select Pay by Card on the checkout page, and
2) Use the red toggle button to turn on installments.

ITEMS PURCHASED INDIVIDUALLY BY PLAYERS (Official Team Colors – Red, Black, White/Gray)
Black Helmet with Black Face Mask – ALL Varsity and Junior Varsity footballers are required to wear an adult helmet. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR PRE-SEASON PRACTICE as of 5/12! Options for purchasing include:
- First Team Sports (2520 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville).
- Amazon
- Sports Unlimited (online retailer)
- Play it Again Sports in Greenville (used equipment)
When ordering, be certain to request delivery information and timing.

Shoulder Pads – Footballers are required to have shoulder pads in order to be sized at First Team Sports on 4/29 for JV or 4/30 for Varsity.

Cleats – Official team colors are red, white, black or gray and/or any combination of those colors. No other cleat colors are permitted.

Mouth Guard – These must be red or white.

Knee Pads - These are used for both practice pants and game pants. It is recommended to have 2 sets of knee pads. Academy Sports has low-cost knee pads.

REFUND POLICY
Once officially registered, no more than 50% of the Football Registration Fee (ONLY) would be eligible for a refund if a player does not participate. The refund would only be issued for reasons of extreme circumstance including: Illness, injury, family relocation, etc. The Greenville Hurricanes offers a clearly defined Refund Policy found in our Handbook (click here for immediate viewing: Refund Policy).

HURRICANE SPORTS PHYSICALS
Sport Physicals are required for each middle school and high school athlete participating in Hurricane Athletics. The Sport Physical must not be more than one year old at any time during the season. Each year we offer Sport Physicals through our Sport Medicine partner, Dr. Patricia Banke, at an inexpensive price of $25 as a benefit to the Hurricane Family! We invite all footballers to take advantage of this at our first scheduled opportunity on Thursday, April 17, 5:00-7:00pm located at 430 Cox Rd, Greer, SC 29651. PAPERWORK REQUIREMENTS
There are a few important documents necessary to complete Football Registration and to have your son ready for Pre-Season Practice. Below is a short description of those few items.
1) Sport Physical (Recent) - Every footballer must submit a current Sport Physical not more than 1 year old at any time during the season. Wondering when your physical expires?

2) Birth Certificate – First year footballers are required to submit a copy of their Birth Certificate, which is kept on file in the Business Services Office. Returning Cane athletes are not required to re-submit.

In order to streamline the process, making it more convenient for you, please scan or take a  photo of the Birth Certificate and/or the doctor's signature page of the Sport Physical (only need that 1 page) and email to Julie Williams at communications@greenvillehurricanes.com.
NOTE - Athlete participation will be limited until all paperwork has been submitted.

SEASON VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Supporting our football program and your student-athletes requires families to assist
throughout the season. With your support, we can once again make the 2025 Football Season a HUGE SUCCESS for our athletes and the spectators who cheer our teams each contest. Every family registered in the 2025 season will be expected to sign up for volunteer-coordinated opportunity, which might include help with concessions, admissions, chain gang, ball boy, setup, cleanup, etc. There are ordinarily 5 opportunities to serve required for each football family over the course of the entire season. In addition to the Gameday Operations volunteerism opportunity, there are several special volunteer roles available (securing one of these roles will cover the volunteerism expected the entire season). The special volunteer roles will be made available during the Registration process and include but are not limited to:

• Events Coordinator (Homecoming Dance and End of Season Banquet)
• Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer reminders during the season)
• Team Mom (1 per team)
• Fundraising Coordinator

FOOTBALL CONDITIONING 2025 (Football Combine info below)

We've already got our eyes set on Football Season 2025, and it's time to start CONDITIONING!! Our conditioning is open to ANY ATHLETE from any sport who would like to work on conditioning! Conditioning is highly recommended to our football players to help them get ready for the upcoming season. Participants will work on speed, agility, weight training and exercises to help build endurance. See below for all the information and to get signed up!

WHAT:  Hurricanes Football Conditioning 2025 (Other Sports Too!)

WHO:  Any athlete who is no younger than 11 on 8/31/25 and no older than 19 on 8/1/25

WHEN:  Our conditioning will now run 3/3 through 5/1 - M/T/Th

• First Week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday) - 5:45-6:45pm
• Following Weeks (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday) - 6:00-7:00pm

WHERE:  Bonds Football Field (505 North Main Street, Greer, SC)

COST:  

• Players registered for Football 2024 - No charge, but you must still register at the link below!
• All other participants - $40 for 12 dates!

BRING:  Water bottle

WEAR:  Athletic shoes or cleats and athletic clothing

FOOTBALL COMBINE 2025

Football Athletes - You're invited to our first Canes Football Combine, coming in May!

A Football Combine is an event that assesses our players' physical abilities and allows Canes Football and the athletes to track progress throughout the season. It's a great motivator to continue to work hard and develop over the course of the preseason and season practices.

What:  Canes Combine Day + Optional Bowling Event
When:  Saturday, May 17, 9am
Where: 

• Combine at 11.11 Training (301 Airport Road, Suite B, Greenville, SC)
• Bowling at Wade Hampton Lanes (3065 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Taylors, SC)

Events Tested:  40-Yard Dash, Vertical Jump, Bench Press Max, Deadlift Max
Who:  This event is open to all Hurricane Football athletes, and you're encouraged to bring a friend! However, only registered Canes Football athletes will have their names added to the record book.
Optional Bowling Event:  After the Canes Combine, all participants are invited to Wade Hampton Lanes to bowl together and eat.
Cost:  Combine (no charge) / Bowling (your cost)

The Greenville Hurricanes is a volunteer-based program. Each family is responsible to sign up for a role to support the program.
