Hurricanes Football 2021 Conditioning Season 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:  Any athlete who will be in 6th-12th grades in the 2021/2022 school year who is either (1) homeschooled or (2) attends a school that does not offer Football.

WHEN:  Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2/9 through 5/6, 4:45-5:45pm

WHERE:  Pleasant Grove Ball Field (1605 South Highway 14, Greer, SC)

COST:  

• Players registered for Football 2020 - No charge AND no need to register!!
• New players - $40 for all 26 dates!! (use registration button below)

COACH:  Josh Thomason (Owner/Trainer at FX3 / Coach at Orangetheory Fitness)

BRING:  Your own personal water bottle

WEAR:  Athletic shoes or cleats and athletic clothing

Conditioning is recommended to help players get ready for the upcoming season. Players will work on speed, agility, weight training and exercises to help build endurance.

Bathrooms will not be available until after the threat of freezing temperatures has passed.

SEASON INFORMATION:

Teams - Hurricane Football plans to offer a JV and Varsity team for the 2021 season. The coaches reserve the right to move 15 year-old players up, depending on size and experience.

Head Coach - Coach Jeff Thomason played football from ages 5-22, including 4 years at Clemson University. He has had over a 25-year career teaching and coaching high school football, most recently retiring several years ago as head football coach at Eastside High School. Jeff is the dad of 3 children and is passionate about mentoring and using athletics as a way to grow young men and point their hearts toward Christ.

Who Can Register?  All players interested in participating in the 2021 Football Season. Must be homeschooled or attending a school that does not offer Football.  It is the age eligibility policy of Hurricane Football that athletes for the 2021/2022 school year do not turn 11 after 7/1/21 and do not turn 19 before 7/1/21.

Spring Training - Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays - 5/10 to 5/27, 6:00-8:15pm. (If we have cancellations for weather, we may have training on Fridays or continue into the week of 5/31.) Location is Pleasant Grove Field.

Practices - Begin on 7/12 at the Pleasant Grove Field (1605 South Hwy 14, Greer). Practices are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 6:00-8:15 pm throughout the season. Friday practices may be called if there have been weather cancellations or if more practices are needed.

Games - Scrimmages will start the week of 8/20. Season games will start the week of 8/27. JV games will be scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Varsity games will be scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays. Our last week of games will be the week of 10/29. For the Varsity team, there will be at least 1 playoff game following the season, with a possibility of 4 playoff games.

Registration Costs

• $375 - Season Registration ($25 Early Bird Discount before 5/1)
• $100 - Player's Kit - New players are required to purchase a full kit. Returning players can place an order for the pieces they need individually at the sizing event. (Player's Kits will be charged by invoice after the completion of the fundraiser. )

PAYMENT PLAN!!
All players/families can take advantage of the payment plan. $125 will be due when registering online. This will be followed by another $125, 30 days later and another $125 (or $100 for early birds), 30 days later.

Players Apparel Kit - full kit includes

• Practice Jersey & Pants
• Dri-Fit Practice Tee and Shorts
• Girdle
• Practice Belt

Uniform -

• JV Team (age 12-15) will be provided 2 Under Armor Game Jerseys and Game Pants (uniform is returned to Hurricane Football at the end of the season). Belt and socks will also be provided.
• Varsity Team (age 16-18) will be provided 2 Nike Game Jerseys and Game Pants (uniform is returned to Hurricane Football at the end of the season). Belt and socks will also be provided.

Purchased Individually by Players

• Black Helmet with Black Face Mask (ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR AN ADULT HELMET)
• Shoulder Pads
• Cleats (red, white, black or gray--or any combination of those colors)
• Mouth Guard (red or white)
• Knee Pads (used with both the practice pants and game pants). It is recommended to have 2 sets of knee pads.

UNIFORM FITTING

Where:  Pleasant Grove Baptist Gym (1002 South Buncombe Road, Greer)

When:  Friday, April 9, 4-8pm

Requirement:  You must be registered online to be fitted (scroll down to registration button)

Bring: In order to complete your registration, please bring the following items to the fitting date of your choice:
* Payment (if not paying online)
* Copy of Child's Birth Certificate (new players only)
* Up-to-Date Sports Physical (see info on physicals below)

GREENVILLE HURRICANES FOOTBALL

Uniform -

• JV Team (11-15) will be provided 2 Under Armor Game Jerseys and Game Pants (uniform is returned to Hurricane Football at the end of the season). Belt and socks will also be provided.

• Varsity Team (16 and older) will be provided 2 Nike Game Jerseys and Game Pants (uniform is returned to Hurricane Football at the end of the season). Belt and socks will also be provided.

Players Apparel Kit - approx. $100, depending on pieces needed by player

• Dri-Fit Practice Tee and Shorts
• Girdle

Purchased Individually by Players -

Each player will be required to participate in fundraising. This will be communicated at the Parent/Player meeting at the beginning of the season.

The Greenville Hurricanes is a volunteer-based program. Each family is responsible to sign up for a role to support the program.
