GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS & SEASON INFO 2026/27

We are excited for Girls Volleyball Season 2026 and our upcoming tryouts! Please take a look at all of the updated info below and sign up for tryouts!

Tryout Dates: Tuesday 3/31 & Thursday 4/2

• MS - 3:30pm - 5:30pm  (6th-8th grade or 14yrs and younger)
• JV/V - 6:00pm - 8:00pm (9th-12th grade or 15yrs and up)

Tryout Location: (Our home game and practice gym for the season) The ROC Gym @ Fairview Baptist Church (938 Lakeview Circle #900, Greer, SC)

Who Can Try Out: Any home schooled student or a traditionally schooled student whose school does not offer girls volleyball, 6th-12th grade. It is the age eligibility policy of Greenville Hurricanes that athletes for the 2026/2027 school year do not turn 11 after 12/31/26 and do not turn 19 before 7/1/26.

What to Wear/Bring: Players should wear comfortable athletic shorts and shoes.  Make sure to wear kneepads and bring a water bottle.  Please note: Wearing spandex shorts alone is not permissible within Hurricane Athletics.  You may wear spandex shorts under your athletic shorts if you're more comfortable, but they cannot be worn alone.

Please Note: Any athlete interested in participating on a Hurricanes team must be present at both tryouts to allow the coaches a better chance of evaluating the player. You must be officially signed up for tryouts in order to participate!  There is no charge for tryouts.

*Once tryouts end, players who are selected for a team will receive an offer letter by email. To secure their spot on the team, the player must accept the offer by the deadline listed in the email.

SEASON INFO

Please make note of ALL of these dates and make your plans to attend. Having a successful team is very hard if the team members aren't committed. The volleyball season is short, so please make sure your girls can join us for camp and all practices and games after that, barring an emergency. Volleyball is not an individual sport at all-- it takes a team that's devoted to one another to play well; if all team members aren't there, it makes practice and play very difficult.

Practice Schedule: Practice will start Monday, July 27 and will be held M, T, Th, F until games begin. We will have practice on these days unless a game is scheduled. We have a schedule of practice dates and times in the TeamSnap App for easy tracking. Location: ROC Gym @ Fairview Baptist Church (938 Lakeview Circle #900, Greer, SC)

• MS: 3:30-5:30pm
• JV: 5:30-7:30pm
• V: 7:30-9:30pm

• 7/27 - Practice starts - You can expect M/T/TH/F being a practice or game night.
• Games - Scheduled Mid-August through Mid-October (a full season practice/game schedule will be available in our TeamSnap App)
• Bump Set Give - Fundraiser 9/12
• Awards banquet- Usually the week after our last game in October. Date TBD.

Tournaments: Each year we work to include tournaments for our teams however these dates may change or be removed.

• Carolina Classic - Oct 17 (MS, JV and V) We host this tournament in Easley and will need all families volunteering for this day.

*As a team, it is important that if you try out and make the team, you are able to attend all tournaments.

Registration Fees

Parents: Our goal is to develop a program that provides a fun, competitive environment while giving the players the opportunity for development. Volleyball registration fee covers the following costs:  Administrative expenses to support the team (insurance, personnel, etc.) / Operations - facilities expenses, officials, equipment.  Participation in the 2026/27 season includes all tournament entry fees. Free access to the home games for immediate family (mom, dad and siblings) is also included.

• JV/VG - $575 (Season Registration + camp)
• MS - $460 (Season Registration + camp)
• New Jersey - $55 (NEW Jerseys this season! There will be a $55 jersey charge for all players this year. Jersey is yours to keep.)

Payment Plan Option:

• $125 paid at the time of registration
• Remaining amount is split up evenly into 2 payments made in June and July
• If you want to use this payment plan option, choose "pay by card" on the checkout page. You will then turn on installments with the red toggle button.

Volunteer Requirements: The girls' volleyball program is run with volunteers. We will need volunteers to help with admissions, concessions, scoreboard operations, scorebook, stat tracking, 2nd adult at a few practices, set up and tear down for games, and occasional event support. We will have a minimum number of spots to fill per athlete.

Fundraising: This is a critical aspect of our program. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the fundraising requirement ($75). We plan to have some fun and engaging ways to raise funds.
NOTE:  $75 of the amount a player brings in for fundraising will cover the required $75 fundraising amount. Monies brought in above the $75 requirement will go to the Girls Volleyball Program.

Sports Physical: A physical is NOT required to participate in tryouts, however a physical will be necessary following registration for those girls making the team. Physicals are required for each middle school and high school athlete participating in a Hurricane's competitive season. The physical must not be more than one year old at any time during the season. $25 Hurricanes Physicals will be available to schedule for 4/23.

Birth Certificate: If you have never participated with Greenville Hurricane Athletics, please bring a copy of your birth certificate to the parent/player meeting.

Girls Volleyball 2nd Beginner Sessions 2026

Our second session of Beginner Off-Season Volleyball Training is just around the corner, and we would love to have everyone join us! In the off-season the coaches are able to focus on fundamentals and position training. The off-season is a great time to reinforce and improve an athletes' skills while also learning new skills and positions that will make them a more versatile player in the future. Our athletes will be encouraged and challenged to grow in the game during practice and while at home. *We are limiting the amount of players this year per session, so please don't wait to sign up!

Beginners (5th-9th grade girls)
February 12 - March 12. Thursdays only, 3:30-5:00pm. This 5-week practice session is a perfect starting point for girls new to Hurricanes volleyball.

Girls Volleyball Off-Season 2025/26!

Greenville Hurricanes Girls Volleyball Off-Season Training is just around the corner, and we would love to have any interested girls join us! If you have any questions, please reach out and let us know.

Purpose
Our off-season program is designed for athletes who plan to try out with the Hurricanes in the spring for the upcoming fall season. It’s a chance to:

• Get extra touches on the ball beyond what the regular season allows.
• Receive specialized training in skills and positions that help players become more versatile.
• Build strength and endurance through focused conditioning at each practice.
• Connect with other local players and coaches, introducing new athletes to the Hurricanes family.

Benefits

• Skill Development: Refine your preferred position and gain new abilities to expand your game.
• Conditioning: Practices will challenge athletes to grow both on the court and at home.
• Community: Meet other players, strengthen relationships, and experience the supportive Hurricanes culture.

Beginner Sessions (NEW players, grades 5th-9th)
Interested in volleyball? Want to build your skills or try a new sport? New to Hurricanes Volleyball? Then our beginner sessions are for you!

• This 5-week session will run from January 8 to February 5, and it is a perfect starting point for girls currently in grades 5th-9th and anyone NEW to volleyball. (If there is enough interest, we’ll host a second 5-week session immediately after the first one).
• Training will be on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm
• Location - Grace Baptist Fellowship Church Gym (37 Pinckney St, Greenville, SC)
• Practices will be led by Coach Rebecca, Coach Kerri, Coach Shannon, and Coach Autumn
• Beginner Sessions = $150 per player

Intermediate Sessions (Have played volleyball, grades 6th-10th)
Played volleyball already and want to try out for Greenville Hurricanes? Then our intermediate session is for you!

• Current 6th & 7th Hurricanes Volleyball girls
• New to Hurricanes 6th-10th, but have played volleyball
• This 12-week session will run from January 5 to April 2, and it is a perfect starting point for girls currently in grades 6th-10th who have played volleyball at least 1 season.
• Training will be on Mondays & Thursdays, 5:00-6:30pm
• Location - Grace Baptist Fellowship Church Gym (37 Pinckney St, Greenville, SC)
• One tournament on February 21. A possible second tournament is TBD.
• Practices will be led by Coach Rebecca, Coach Kerri, Coach Shannon, and Coach Autumn
• Intermediate = $350 per player, includes:
  • All training sessions/coaching fees
  • Tournament fee
  • Gym rental

Payment Plan Option

• At registration pay $100
• Installments will be made on January 15th, February 15th, and March 15th  (card debited)
