GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUT INFORMATION - 2025/2026

TRYOUT INFORMATION

WHEN:  September 29, 2025

Please note that while we are requiring tryouts by grade level, we are not restricting teams to only certain grade levels. Below is the age breakdown that will determine teams:

WHERE:  First Baptist Greenville (847 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC)

WHO:  Any homeschooled student (or a traditionally-schooled student whose school does not offer Girls Basketball), 6th grade to 12th grade. It is the age eligibility policy of Greenville Hurricanes that athletes for the 2025/2026 school year do not turn 11 after 12/31/25 and do not turn 19 before 7/1/25.

Coaching Staff:

Practices:
Practices begin the week of October 6th. The practice schedule will vary based on game schedules and gym availability, but between practices and games, plan for 3-4 nights per week during the season. The schedule of practice dates and times will be posted in the TeamSnap app for easy tracking.

Games:
The full game schedule will be available in the TeamSnap app when registered.

Tournaments:

NOTE:  As a team, it is important that if you try out and make the team, you are able to attend all tournaments. Expense related to tournament lodging, meals and transportation is additional to registration and fundraising. We will do our best to plan some ways to offset the expense for our teams.

Registration Fees: 
JVG/VG - $400 + $200 fundraising

• Season Registration Fee (online registration) - $400 (must be registered by 10/2)
•  Fundraising / Donations - $200 (due by November 3)

MSG - $350 + $200 fundraising

• Season Registration Fee (online registration) - $350 (must be registered by 10/2)
•  Fundraising / Donations - $200 (due by November 3)

Payment Plan - The registration and fundraising amount for the season can be paid by installment. $100 is due at registration, and the remainder will be broken up into 4 monthly payment.

Uniforms:
As in previous years, uniforms will be loaned; there is no extra cost to the player (Value: $200). Uniforms are the property of the Greenville Hurricanes and will be returned at the end of the season. If a player loses or damages a uniform, the player will be charged the full cost of replacing the damaged or lost jersey. If you wish to purchase your uniform, please indicate in the registration process what part of the uniform you wish to purchase.

Volunteer Requirements:
The entire Girls Basketball operation is completed with volunteers. We will need volunteers to help with admissions, concessions, scoreboard operations, scorebook, stat tracking and occasional event support. We will have a minimum amount of spots to fill per athlete on our volunteer schedule.

Fundraising:
This is a critical aspect of our program. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees. Our Basketball Shoot-a-Thon has been very successful in the past, and Boys and Girls Basketball plan to hold this event jointly this year on October 18. This is a fun and engaging way to raise funds!

Required Paperwork:
All paperwork must be turned in  by 10/6 in order to participate. We will also allow athletes scheduled for an October Greenville Hurricanes physical to begin practice on 10/6.

Physicals:  A physical is required for all participating athletes 6th grade and above. The physical may not be more than 1 year old at any time during the season. Hurricane physicals will be offered in October! Watch for that announcement.

Birth Certificate: Required only for athletes new to Greenville Hurricanes. Returning athletes will already have their birth certificate on file.

Sport Physical & Birth Certificate Submission: In order to streamline the process, please scan or take a photo of the Birth Certificate and/or the doctor's signature page of the Sport Physical (only need that 1 page).

Hurricane Physicals:
Greenville Hurricanes will be offering $25 physicals in October. Date is to be announced.

GREENVILLE HURRICANES GIRLS BASKETBALL

Get ready for our Girls Basketball Tryouts  and a new Basketball season by taking advantage of Canes'  PRE-TRYOUT CLINIC! The focus will be on getting your Student Athlete ready for the upcoming Basketball Tryouts. We will be focusing on ball handling, shooting, agility, conditioning and other aspects of helping your Student Athlete as we prepare for the upcoming season. You must be signed up to participate!

WHO:  Girls 6th-12th grade who are interested in trying out for Hurricanes Girls Basketball and are homeschooled or attend a traditional school that does not offer Girls Basketball

WHERE:  Hampton Heights Baptist Church (2511 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, SC)

AGE CUTOFFS:

COST:  $40 for all 5 sessions or $10/session
