- MSG (14U) - Player is 14 years old or younger on August 1, 2025
- JVG (16U) - Player is 16 years old or younger on August 1, 2025
- VG (18U) - Player is 18 years old or younger on July 1, 2025
WHO: Any homeschooled student (or a traditionally-schooled student whose school does not offer Girls Basketball), 6th grade to 12th grade. It is the age eligibility policy of Greenville Hurricanes that athletes for the 2025/2026 school year do not turn 11 after 12/31/25 and do not turn 19 before 7/1/25.

Practices begin the week of October 6th. The practice schedule will vary based on game schedules and gym availability, but between practices and games, plan for 3-4 nights per week during the season. The schedule of practice dates and times will be posted in the TeamSnap app for easy tracking.
Games:
The full game schedule will be available in the TeamSnap app when registered.
Tournaments:
- MS County Tournament - November 21, 22 and 24 (MSG)
- Christmas Tournament (Battle at the Border) - December 27, 29 & 30 (JVG/VG)
- Chapman Classic (Chapman High School) - January 2, 3 (JVG/VG)
- Palmetto State Tournament (Easley, SC) - Usually scheduled the first or second week of February (MSG/JVG/VG)
- JV County Championship - Usually first or second week of February (JVG)
- Gatlinburg Tournament (Gatlinburg, TN) - March 9-13 (MSG/JVG/VG)
Registration Fees:
JVG/VG - $400 + $200 fundraising
- Season Registration Fee (online registration) - $400 (must be registered by 10/2)
- Fundraising / Donations - $200 (due by November 3)
MSG - $350 + $200 fundraising
- Season Registration Fee (online registration) - $350 (must be registered by 10/2)
- Fundraising / Donations - $200 (due by November 3)
Payment Plan - The registration and fundraising amount for the season can be paid by installment. $100 is due at registration, and the remainder will be broken up into 4 monthly payment.
Uniforms:
As in previous years, uniforms will be loaned; there is no extra cost to the player (Value: $200). Uniforms are the property of the Greenville Hurricanes and will be returned at the end of the season. If a player loses or damages a uniform, the player will be charged the full cost of replacing the damaged or lost jersey. If you wish to purchase your uniform, please indicate in the registration process what part of the uniform you wish to purchase.
Volunteer Requirements:
The entire Girls Basketball operation is completed with volunteers. We will need volunteers to help with admissions, concessions, scoreboard operations, scorebook, stat tracking and occasional event support. We will have a minimum amount of spots to fill per athlete on our volunteer schedule.
Fundraising:
This is a critical aspect of our program. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees. Our Basketball Shoot-a-Thon has been very successful in the past, and Boys and Girls Basketball plan to hold this event jointly this year on October 18. This is a fun and engaging way to raise funds!

Required Paperwork:
All paperwork must be turned in by 10/6 in order to participate. We will also allow athletes scheduled for an October Greenville Hurricanes physical to begin practice on 10/6.
Physicals: A physical is required for all participating athletes 6th grade and above. The physical may not be more than 1 year old at any time during the season. Hurricane physicals will be offered in October! Watch for that announcement.

Birth Certificate: Required only for athletes new to Greenville Hurricanes. Returning athletes will already have their birth certificate on file.
Sport Physical & Birth Certificate Submission: In order to streamline the process, please scan or take a photo of the Birth Certificate and/or the doctor's signature page of the Sport Physical (only need that 1 page).

Tryout Date: Tuesday, October 8th Time: 6-6:45p
Tryout Location: Fairview Baptist Church ROC GYM (938 Lakeview Cir #900, Greer, SC 29651 )
Who Can Try Out: Any homeschooled student grades 4th-5th grade. (4th & 5th graders are defined as players that are at least 9 to 10 years of age on September 1, 2024.)
Coaches for 2024/25 Season:
If you are interested in coaching the Little Canes team, please include that in the registration process. Our goal this year is to have our Varsity players assist in practices, but we will need two adults to serve as coaches.

SEASON INFO
Parents: Our goal is to develop a program that provides a competitive environment while giving the players the opportunity for development. LittleCanes is a great start, and our goal is to provide as much game time play as possible. The plan is to have 10 players on the team, per league rules.
Other Important Dates:
- 10/8- Tryouts. The plan is to let players know at tryouts if they made the team. We will officially post on or before 10/14 and start registration.
- 10/14 - Registration Payment Due
- 10/15- Practices begin (a full pre-season practice schedule will be available in our TeamSnap app.)
- 11/11 or 11/18 - Estimated date of games beginning. Games are on Saturdays
Practice Schedule:
Practice starts on October 8th. Our plan is to have practice 1-2 times per week as a team and gym space allows. Currently, that day is Tuesday. Times could be anywhere between 4:30-7p, but currently we have planned from 6-7p. Feedback we received last year was to have more practices. While that will drive the cost up, we will do our best to add additional practice times for the players to develop..
Gym location: Hampton Heights Baptist Church Gym (2511 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29615)
Game Schedule:
Games are each Saturday, except for holiday weekends (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) and will be at various church gyms. Games usually start on Nov 11 and end with the post-season tournament on Feb 1st, 8th, or 15th. We do not receive the official schedule until closer to November, but if you are trying out, you should plan to be at all games.
Registration Fees: $150 Registration
Registration fee due at the time of registration = $150
Girls Basketball registration fee covers the following costs:
- Administrative expenses to support the team (insurance, personnel, tech fees, etc)
- Operations - facilities expenses, equipment
- Participation in the 2024/25 season
- Uniform tops will be provided/loaned
- Player’s jersey top, worn with the player's black or dark shorts (Uniforms will be returned at the end of the season. If a uniform is lost or damaged there will be a $30 replacement fee to cover the cost of replacing)
- Free registration to Boo-sketball Camp on Oct 26th
Refund Policy:
Once you make the team and register, we start incurring costs. We hope you understand the need for the following refund policy.
- Once you register, until Oct 10 - refund will be provided minus $75
- After October 11, no refunds will be issued on any fees paid.
Donations:
The Greenville Hurricanes is a 501(c)(3) and is a great way to support girls basketball in our community. If you, a friend or family member is interested in making a donation and receiving a tax deduction, it is a great way to offset our program expenses and continue to enhance future basketball equipment and gym needs. Donations are still made to the Greenville Hurricanes, just let us know it is designated for Girls Basketball.

About The Canes
Greenville Hurricanes is a 501(c)(3) organization created to provide athletic opportunities to elementary, middle school and high school students. This athletic program is open to the greater homeschooling community and private, Christian, Charter or alternative education groups that may not offer that particular sport in their own organization.
