SWIM TEAM 2025 (7th-12th)
Hurricanes Swimming is getting ready for our THIRD SEASON! We can't wait to start up again! Below is all the information. Registration will open Sunday, June 1, 2025 and will stay open until July 15. We will take the first 40 athletes.
SEASON INFORMATION
Staff -
- Head Coach - Michelle Carpenter (Head Coach of the YMCA's Masters Swim Program/Sail Head Coach)

Who Can Participate - The Hurricanes Swim Team is open to athletes entering 7th-12th grade in the 25/26 school year. The team is open to any athlete who is homeschooled or whose school does not offer a Swimming Program.
Practice Information -
- Location - Devenger Place (302 Paddock Lane, Greer, SC)
- Practice Schedule - Practice is available every day, Monday through Friday. Athletes are required to attend at least 3 of the practices offered weekly. Times are 3:30-5:00pm.
- Practice begins on 8/4 and continues through the end of September
- No practices if there is a meet scheduled on that day.
- You will get out of the season what you put into it!
Requirement - Ability to swim 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke
Meets -
- There will be approximately 6-8 meets for the season.
- Meets are male/female open events, 7th-12th grade, with no age divisions.
- Weekday meets run 5:30-9:00pm (arrive an hour early for warmups)
- Weekend meets run 9:00am-12:30pm (arrive an hour early for warmups)
Events at Meets - 200 yd. Medley Relay / 200 yd. Freestyle / 200 yd. Individual Medley / 50 yd. Freestyle / 100 yd. Butterfly / 100 yd. Freestyle / 500 yd. Freestyle / 200 yd. Freestyle Relay / 100 yd. Backstroke / 100 yd Breaststroke / 400 yd. Freestyle Relay
Volunteering- Each family will be expected to fulfill a certain number of volunteer spots during the season. Most of these roles occur during swim meets. Stroke and Turn, Referee, and Starter will require outside training. A few roles are for the whole season and will fulfill all the requirements. These include team mom, team photographer and concessions coordinator. If you are specifically interested in volunteering in one of these roles please indicate this on your registration. Additional information will be communicated at the beginning of the season.
Uniform -
Cost - $325 for Season Registration.
Registration fee covers
- all meet registrations
- 1 swim cap
- Team T-Shirt. Additional t-shirts for other family members may be ordered ($20 each).
Payment Plan (available if desired)
- $100 due at the time of online registration
- Remaining amount drafted for the following 2 months
- If you would like to use the payment plan option, on the "Checkout" page, choose to "pay by card." Use the red toggle button to turn on installment payments.
Paperwork -
Sports Physical: A physical will be necessary following registration for those athletes making the team. A new Hurricanes Physicals date is set for July 17, 2025.
Birth Certificate: Required only for athletes new to Greenville Hurricanes. Returning athletes will already have their birth certificate on file.
Sport Physical & Birth Certificate Submission: In order to streamline the process, please scan or take a photo of the Birth Certificate and/or the doctor's signature page of the Sport Physical (only need that 1 page).

Physicals - For those who need a physical, Greenville Hurricane Athletics is offering physicals this summer at a fabulous price of $25! We have a new summer date. See info below:

- Times: 5-7pm
- Location: 430 Cox Rd, Greer (Office of Dr. Patricia Banke)
- Cost: $25 (for comparison, Minute Clinic, MD360 and Doctor's Care all charge $40-$60 for a sports physical)
